My first impressions of Google+

Posted on 10:22 by Unknown

Other than the fact that I dont have any other friends yet (minus the friends who are jealously waiting for its release), it's an amazing site!

Not only is it an amazing jump from Buzz, it has great potential to surpass Facebook if people spread the word as well as they did during the Chrome Pilot Program!

The only requests would be if you could invite your facebook friends and import previous statuses to Google+.

Other than that, BEWARE facebook!

Coleman lanterns are durable!

Posted on 08:55 by Unknown

On our way camping, full speed down a CT highway, an entire bin flew off the car and onto the road. Glad bags and cups went flying, but to my suprise, our Coleman lantern survived being thrown from a car, hit by another and rolled off to the side of the road.

Never drive with anything on the roof.
Lesson learned!

The Military is DUMB, Yeah, I said it, DUMB

Posted on 09:18 by Unknown

And here's something the video didn't include: The US military spends $20 BILLION per year on air conditioning tents (Yes, I said TENTS). The best part is? That's more than NASA's entire budget!

So........ No one at Google checked if the name of their products were already trademarked?

Posted on 07:29 by Unknown
Now Google's getting sued over the name of their OS and Notebooks (because GOD FORBID they used an element as a name)

As an owner of an "Epic" 4G, I can rightfully say EPIC FAIL Google, as well as the company suing them.

I still don't understand why names of things can be trademarked. Doesn't it matter what quality the product is, and not the actual name?

I don't know, it could just be me.....

Anyways, if you want to go more into detail about this:

Chromebook Update! The Screen

Posted on 19:26 by Unknown
Just a quick update, the screen hinges are becoming a bit loose, not so much that it is a threat to the computer's functionality or look, but it worries me. I've heard that this is common on CR48's, a true sign of excessive use of the device (a true tester!)

Just wanted to share!

The Chromebook Easter Egg: Explained!

Posted on 13:06 by Unknown
Now, we all know that this egg was first discovered here: http://wellsb.com/post/6161876985/how-i-cracked-the-cr-48-easter-egg (An explanation of how he found it).

But now, the people behind this have given a full explanation of the Egg, including all the .sys, .hal and .exe's!

"There's another message encoded in the image. The hexadecimal numbers are the ASCII representation of this text:

"Greetings from the Chrome OS x86 firmware team. This message is brought to you by Randall, Bill, Vadim, Gaurav, and Kelly. Also by the letter G and the number 42. If you've enjoyed this gadget, please join us at http://www.chromium.org to help make it even better. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress. No animals were harmed in the production of this message. Apply only to affected area. Cape does not enable wearer to fly. Contents may have settled during shipment. Use no hooks."

And for the filenames:

The New York Times' article on Chromebooks is RIDICULOUS

Posted on 07:24 by Unknown
" There’s no “desktop;” there’s no hard drive."
Yeah.....Wrong. Completely.

"O.K. I mean, I’m sort of with you here, but walk me through this."
Who writes professionally like that? A 6 year old?

"If you do not have a Google account, you can log in as a guest."
OR MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT

" There are no other programs or applications to use."
I dont know what screen you're looking at, but I have a nice 32 apps......

"So, with these netbooks and laptops that cost the same or less, and weigh the same or less, and come with screens bigger and smaller than Chromebooks, I could still do all those cloud-based things you were talking about, but I could also have a full-fledged computer as well?
Yes. So I would want a Chromebook because…? Good question.

They REALLY dissed Chromebooks here, and I don't blame them for one reason: Chromebooks cost WAY too much. I have owned 4 netbooks and each has proved to be a powerful device. Netbooks can even run Mac OS X at normal speeds! But the focus of these devices isn't iMovie, or COD; it's the web.

So shout out to Sam Grobart, great job on the article! [NOT] I can't wait for your next article about how the news doesn't investigate in their topic. Oh wait, you already wrote it.

Geocaching (Not geocatching, as I thought for the first 3 months)

Posted on 05:18 by Unknown
If you haven't already heard, there are THOUSANDS (just look to your left a few pixels to see) of hidden treasure boxes places throughout the world that you can find, take something out of, and replace with something else - trade hunting, if you will.

All you need: A smartphone!

There could be one in your neighborhood, because there was one in mine, and.........come on, the population is in the few thousands!
Sorry for the terrible screenshot, Chrome OS doesnt have a selection screenshot YET :D
